Aimee Collins

Parent Governor (FGB, KFPS)

My name is Aimée Collins and I have been a Parent Governor since September 2019. I have a Little Lady at Kings’ forest Primary in Year 1 and my son currently attends Little Forest Nursery. Prior to the school becoming Kings Forest Primary, members of my family and I attended both amalgamated sites of Deerswood and Falconride Schools. Kings’ Forest therefore holds a huge importance and fond memories. Being a dedicated individual, I will offer commitment and enthusiasm to the role and do all that I can to contribute to the continued success of our primary schools. I also sit on the Quality of Education Committee at Kings’ Forest. In my role I will be both supportive and proactive and look forward to facilitating the implementation of new and exciting initiatives in the near future.

Alison Dawes

I have worked at Staple Hill Primary for 20 years and over that time have been offered the opportunity to qualify as HLTA and Parental Support Worker. I work mornings in Daisy class supporting the children’s learning and in the afternoon I am able to offer support to our families. I myself grew up in Staple Hill so I feel that I have a great understanding of the families living in this community and how best to support them. I feel that I have a great deal to offer the community at Staple Hill Primary.

Alison Wood

LA Governor (FGB, SHPS)

During my twenty-six years in education I have enjoyed a wide range of roles. My favourite was probably teaching but I also learned lots and derived a great deal of pleasure from working as a Literacy consultant for South Gloucestershire. Most recently retired after eleven years of Headship where I took my successful infant school through the Federation process, I am currently working part time as an Education Partner for Bristol. I now find myself with more time for family and friends and walking my dog and relish the opportunity to put my past and present educational experiences to good use as Governor at Forest Hill.

Arwa Said

Co-opted Governor – Head of School Staple Hill (FGB, SHPS)

Carol Warrant

Co-opted Governor (FGB, KFPS)

I am a retired primary headteacher and Ofsted inspector. I have been a governor at King’s Forest Primary for 4 years. I feel privileged to use my knowledge and experience to support and challenge the Forest Hill Partnership to continue to provide the best educational experiences and outcomes for all our pupils.

Clare Blake

Co-opted Governor (FGB, FB&HR)

I have been connected with Kings’ Forest and the previous Deerswood school for many years.  I attended Deerswood in the 1960s and my daughter was a pupil there too.  I am currently a part-time admin officer at the school, but I worked for 32+ years at Bristol City Council, where I had various roles and gained experience in a number of areas including health and safety, HR, financial management and project management. I became a Governor because I am aware of how difficult it is for schools these days to meet all the demands placed upon them, and I feel I have knowledge and experience which could help the school which serves the community I live in.

David James

Co-opted Governor (FGB, SHPS)

My working life was in many different roles in NHS Administration/Management.  For 10 years to 2010 I dealt with governance issues at a Primary Care Trust.  Retirement gave me more time for community work at the Salvation Army and I am also involved locally with the Staple Hill Partnership and the Community Hub.  I owe much to the Head of the village Primary School I went to in the 1950s and enjoy my work as Governor many years later.  Although my experience and knowledge of the Education service was limited, I find many principles policies and governance issues are transferable between sectors.

Helen Porter

Co-opted Governor – Head of School Kings’ Forest (FGB, KFPS)

I am the Headteacher at Kings Forest Primary School and have over 20 years’ experience working in the education sector. I report to the Quality of Education Committee and my role involves ensuring the smooth operational running of the school supporting Mr Newman in the Partnership’s agreed strategic direction.

Jamie Lee

Co-opted Governor (FGB, FB&HR)

John Smith

Co-opted Governor (FGB, SHPS)

Leigh Hammond

Parent Governor – Joint Chair of governors and chair of the Quality of Education committee for Staple Hill (FGB, SHPS)

I am a business owner and director along with being father to three daughters, two of which have moved on to secondary school from SHPS, one is still in our school. I feel my experiences in both my working and family life provides the perfect platform to enable me to be a valuable member of the governing body. I have been a Governor now for 4 years and have loved every moment of it. I took over as Chair of Governors at our school a couple of days before the latest Ofsted. I became a governor to really make a difference to our fantastic children and ensure they all receive the best education possible to enable them to move on to secondary school with ease and with the utmost confidence.

Louisa Skinner

Co-opted Governor (FGB, KFPS)

Lynn Thomas

Co-opted Governor (FGB, FB&HR)

I have been a headteacher, adviser and senior Local Authority manager. I currently volunteer for a charity that supports young people with learning disabilities and autism. I have been connected to Kings’ Forest Primary School for many years and when I was offered a chance to become a governor, I jumped at it. The new Forest Hill Federation is very exciting, and I look forward to continuing to use my experience in this new role. I enjoy being with my five grandchildren, one of whom is on the autistic spectrum, and going to the opera and theatre in London.

Steve Riches

Co-opted Governor – Joint Chair of governors and chair of the Quality of Education committee for Kings’ Forest (FGB, KFPS)

I joined the governing body of Deer’s Wood Primary as a parent governor in 1998. I had children at the school and wanted to contribute to their education in any way I could. I enjoyed the challenge of being a governor and continued after my children left school. I have held the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, Chair of Resources Committee and various link governor roles. I was actively involved in the amalgamation with Falconride to become Kings’ Forest and the subsequent ‘new build’. I was a Civil Servant (mainly in the MoD) for almost 35 years, taking early retirement in 2012. My time with the MoD was in IT starting in programming and finishing in service delivery. I am the Joint Co-Ordinator of the Resound FoodBank in Emersons Green which I helped to establish in 2013.
